SARAH KNUTSON

Sarah was raised in Salmon Arm and returned as an adult to live – it is a great place to be! As a child/teen, music was a major focus in Sarah’s life – in her teen years, she completed her ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music, performed with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and did a solo recital for the Shuswap District Arts Council. These experiences have led her to believe that youth can accomplish big things with the right guidance and regular practice. Adulthood took her on a journey of working as a registered nurse for several years before returning to piano teaching when her own children were young. She has taught piano cumulatively for 30 years now and has experience with all ages and stages. She feels it is her job to show parents and students the opportunities that music offers and then work with them to find the best fit for their child so that music becomes an integral part of their life for the long term. Many of her students participate in music festivals and piano exams but her teaching style also offers a flexible focus tailored toward encouraging students to develop music skills that will last a lifetime and toward accommodating students and families individual needs and interests.
